According to the Digital 2022: Ghana report, Ghana had 16.99 million internet users in January 2022. That means about fifty percent of Ghana’s population are active online! As a business owner, you cannot ignore this huge potential. You need to get on the internet and market your business.

Businesses have been advertising on radio, TV, in newspapers, and so on. This is called Traditional Marketing. There is nothing wrong with it. However, in today’s world, you must do both Traditional and Digital marketing. Digital marketing is using online business directories, web design marketing, email marketing, social media marketing, and mobile apps to promote your products or services.

Every business (whether small, medium or large) should, in my opinion, engage digital marketing. Yes. That includes accounting services, auto-mechanics, bakeries, beauty salons, and so forth.

I will describe each component of digital marketing in layman’s terms, avoiding technical jargon. So that even if you know nothing about digital marketing, you can benefit from this article. Moreover, I will give one key tip on how to use each of these for your business.

Online Business Directories

Do you remember those big yellow books with business names and phone numbers? Currently, there is an online version. Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is the chief example of an online business listing. It is free to add your business to it. When people search for businesses like yours on Google, you will appear in the search results. The main features required are your name, products or services, location, and phone number.

In addition to Google Business Profile, local business directories like Ghana Yellow Pages are highly recommended. Because they are local, they help serve the needs of indigenous businesses better. Our blog post, How Ghana’s Top Online Business Directories Can Grow Your Business, explained the benefits of using Ghana’s online business directories in detail.

Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing includes Facebook marketing, Instagram marketing, Twitter marketing, LinkedIn marketing, and so forth. Nowadays, you can market your business on Meta (Facebook & Instagram), Twitter, and LinkedIn. Facebook strategy is all about growing your page likes and posting content that people will like, comment on, and share. Right now, Instagram is all about posting Reels and Carousels. Instagram is now prioritizing Reels, so posting more of them will help you reach more people on the app and potentially drive sales.

Use Twitter to join the conversation about your industry or your products and services. To get noticed on Twitter, use the app’s search icon to see what’s trending. And add some of these topics or hashtags in your posts (Tweets). LinkedIn is solely a professional networking site. Use it to reach out to your ideal customers. And send them private messages to foster mutually beneficial relationships. Target people aged 24 and under for whatever TikTok content you create.

You can also promote your business on social media platforms like YouTube, Pinterest, and so on. But space will not permit me to discuss them all here. Besides, don’t forget to learn how to use paid adverts on these social media platforms. Because when done correctly, the ads can increase the number of people you will reach. Business websites

The most valuable digital asset you own is your company’s website. Some businesses are exploiting Web design marketing to their advantage. Consider getting a website for your business. Tomorrow if TikTok or Instagram is gone, your website will still be there for you. If you do not have enough funds, you can place an order for our One-Page websites. It is made affordable for small businesses with low budget. However, if you want a full-fledged website for your business, you can place an order by clicking here.

Focus your website’s blog articles on providing value to your audience. You should specifically use the articles on your website to educate people on how to do things, inspire them to be better, and promote your goods and services. Let me give you a bonus tip. Make sure your website is designed to be easily viewed on a mobile device.

You also need to understand what it takes for your website to rank well in search engines like Google, Bing, and others. In addition, familiarize yourself with how to run paid advertisements on these search engines. Then you educate yourself on how to promote your products and services to individuals by email.

Mobile Apps

If you have the funds, you should incorporate a mobile app into your digital marketing strategy. The primary goal of your mobile app should be to increase customer loyalty. That is, increasing the frequency with which your customers return to buy from you.

To summarize, your digital marketing strategy should work in tandem with your traditional marketing efforts. Your digital marketing strategy will include the use of online business directories, emails, social media accounts, a business website, and a mobile app to promote your goods and services to an online audience.
