How I Will Use Parts of Your Website to Boost Your Sales

When someone asks you, “Why should I buy from you?” or “Why should I do business with you?” what would your answer be? Whenever I design a website, that is the question I aim to answer for you. In this blog post, I will show how I will design your homepage to convince visitors to do business with you.

Banner – State What You Do or What They Will Get

The banner is the first part of the website people will see when they visit.

I make sure they do not have to think too hard to figure out what you do. I tell them, in plain language, what your business is about.

Alternatively, I may use the banner to inform them of what they will get from you. This excites them, as they know they will find exactly what they are looking for.

About Us Section – How You Solve Their Problem

When they scroll down from the banner, the next thing they will see is the About Us section on your homepage.

People don’t care about your business. They only care about how your business solves their problem. Let me ask you: when you go to buy fufu, do you do so because you care about the fufu seller? Or is it because you want a delicious, affordable meal to satisfy your hunger?

The problem is hunger, and you want to satisfy it—just that you want something good and affordable.

That is exactly how your customer thinks. They want to do business with you because you will solve their problem.

That is why I describe your business in the About Us section by identifying the problems your prospective customers face and positioning your business as the solution they are looking for.

Services – What Advantages They Will Get From You

Let’s go back to the fufu seller example. Now, you are at her restaurant. But wait—she sells plantain fufu with light soup and chicken, cocoyam fufu with abunu abunu soup and goat meat, and more. These are her services.

After scrolling down from the About Us section on your homepage, your website visitors will reach the Services section. This is where they will see what you have to offer.

For example, a construction company may build both residential and commercial properties.

But I go a step further. I highlight the advantages of working with you. For each service description, I include what makes you stand out or the specific benefits your customers will get from choosing you.

Call to Action (CTA) – Tell Them What You Want Them to Do

Your website exists to attract customers. You don’t want visitors to scroll through your site, do nothing, and then leave. You want them to take action—to do business with you.

Think about walking through a market. The sellers call out to you, urging you to buy from them. They want you to take action.

Likewise, on your website, I place a Call to Action (CTA) to guide visitors towards your desired action—whether that is booking a call, signing up, or making a purchase.

As a best practice, I place CTAs on nearly every page so that, no matter where visitors are on your website, they always have an easy way to take action.

Footer – Remind Them Who You Are and Make It Easy to Contact You

The footer, as the name suggests, is the bottom section of your website. This is where I remind visitors about your business and make it easy for them to contact you by displaying your contact details.

Since the footer appears on every page of the website, it ensures that visitors can always find your contact information, no matter which page they are on.
