St. Andrews Senior High School
St. Andrews Senior High School, located in Assin Foso, Central Region of Ghana, was founded in 2005 by the visionary Dr. Richard Kofi Asiedu. Starting with just 25 students and 4 tutors in a humble dilapidated building behind the old Ghana National Fire Service Station, the school has since grown from strength to strength.
With a commitment to providing quality education, St. Andrews SHS now offers a range of academic programs, including General Arts, Business, Visual Arts, Agricultural Science, Home Economics, General Science, and Technical. From its modest beginnings, the school has earned a reputation for academic excellence and is gradually establishing itself among Grade ‘A’ public SHS institutions.
In recognition of its remarkable progress, the Ghana Education Service elevated St. Andrews SHS to Grade ‘A’ Private SHS status in 2015. Today, the school boasts a student body of 2652 learners, reflecting its continued growth and popularity. Notably, in 2013, St. Andrews set a record in the history of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) by registering 1814 candidates at a sitting, a feat yet to be surpassed by any school in the country.
St. Andrews SHS received official accreditation from the Ghana Education Service in 2007 and gained recognition from WAEC in 2011. Led by a dedicated headmaster holding a Master of Philosophy Degree in Education Management, backed by a Bachelor of Education from the University of Cape Coast, the school is committed to fostering a supportive learning environment for its students.
The esteemed Board of St. Andrews SHS is chaired by Rev. Dr. John Apenkwa Brown, a PhD holder, and comprises other accomplished members, including Dr. Regina N.N. Asiedu (PhD), Dr. Richard Asiedu (PhD), Nana Dr. Ampim Darko VI (PhD), and Thomas Affram (Mphil).
