St. Monica’s Senior High School is a prestigious girls’ second-cycle institution located in the scenic town of Mampong, Ashanti Region, Ghana. Situated along the Kumasi-Mampong Highway, our school enjoys a tranquil setting on a hilly landscape, offering a refreshing and cool environment for learning.

Founded with a rich history rooted in missionary work, St. Monica’s Senior High School has its origins in the Convent of Our Lady and Saint Monica, established by Rt Rev John Orfeur Aglionby, the Anglican Bishop of the Gold Coast. In 1926, the visionary bishop invited the sisters of the Order of the Holy Paraclete from England to establish a school dedicated to the education of young girls.

In 1946, St. Monica’s Secondary School emerged as a separate institution, distinct from the Teacher Training College, marking a significant milestone in providing quality education to girls in Mampong and beyond.

Throughout our illustrious journey, St. Monica’s Senior High School has nurtured and empowered countless young women who have gone on to make remarkable contributions in various fields. Our notable alumnae include accomplished individuals such as biochemist Marian Ewurama Addy, zoologist Yaa Ntiamoah Badu, and phytochemist and trailblazing Vice-Chancellor Rita Akosua Dickson.
