St. Peter's Senior High School

St. Peter’s Senior High School, affectionately known as PERSCO, is a renowned Roman Catholic boys’ senior high school nestled in the picturesque Eastern Region of Ghana. Established in 1957 by the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD), our school is situated in the vibrant town of Nkwatia Kwahu, perched on the scenic Kwahu Ridge.

At St. Peter’s, we are committed to providing a holistic education that nurtures the intellectual, spiritual, and physical growth of our students. Our academic facilities, referred to as the Class Side, boast well-equipped classroom blocks, science laboratories, a computer laboratory, a quiz room, and an administration block. The classroom blocks house specialized programs in Science, Business, Visual Arts, and General Arts, ensuring a diverse range of academic opportunities for our students.

Our state-of-the-art laboratories facilitate practical science experiments in Physics, Biology, and Chemistry, allowing our students to delve into hands-on learning experiences. Accommodation is provided in our five dormitory blocks, each named after Roman Catholic saints associated with Africa or Black people, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among our students.

St. Peter’s Senior High School offers four distinct programs of study: Visual Arts, General Arts, Science, and Business, empowering students to pursue their passions and explore their potential. Prior to the government’s introduction of a computerized placement system, our school conducted placement examinations to ensure that only the most talented students were selected for the science programs, maintaining a tradition of academic excellence.

Beyond the classroom, our school boasts a range of sporting facilities, including a football pitch, athletics oval, basketball and volleyball courts, hockey pitch, and tennis courts. Our students have proudly represented the Kwahu zone in the prestigious Super-Zonal sports festivals, showcasing their talents and sportsmanship.

As you explore our campus, you will discover two expansive palm plantations, providing not only a scenic landscape but also a source of palm fruits that nourish our student body. Additionally, our school chapel, a place of solace and spiritual reflection, welcomes the entire student population, Catholic staff members, and residents of the township. Sunday Masses, presided over by the School Chaplain and visiting priests, foster a sense of faith and community.

Embodying the rich tapestry of our school’s identity, St. Peter’s Senior High School is home to two beloved crocodiles. These esteemed creatures, considered our mascots, serve as an intriguing attraction for visitors and symbolize the unique character of our institution. Cared for by our wildlife club, the crocodiles hold a special place in the hearts of our students and add to the charm of our school grounds.

Coral Reef Innovation Hub, in partnership with NEIP, Intel, and the St. Peter’s Old Boys Association (PERSCOBA), marked a milestone on Saturday, April 29th, 2023, with the inauguration of an advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) lab. This cutting-edge facility signifies a significant leap forward in fostering AI technology within the student and staff community.

The AI lab is equipped with state-of-the-art resources, including cutting-edge computing capabilities, advanced machine learning algorithms, and robust data analytics tools.
